Hmm..
In 1973 my dad was making $11 an hour doing HVAC work. Dad bought a new '73 square plain jane... 2x, 307, 3 speed on tree, armstrong steering, painted bumpers... paid something like $2200 cash. This was in Chicago. I learned how to drive in this rig.

I went with my brother to Al Starnes Chevrolet in December of 78 and we left with a new 79 K30. 400/400. He got it for $9000. They through in a step bumper but we had th install it.

That sounds about right. In Canada 1978, a fully loaded Silverado 4x4 shortbox was 10K.

Wow, Look at all the Stepside Longbeds !!! I still want one just cuz not everyone has one and I don't care for stepsides.

My wife saw one a few weeks back and she liked it. I said it is the same thing as mine just has a stepside bed on it. She said it's not a box. I'll give her that one. They are cool, just can't haul as much as a fleetside can.
