Transmission and transfer case codes

OK These I know

M20 - 4 speed wide ratio
M21 - 4 speed close ratio
M22 - 4 speed close ratio HD (rock crusher)
TH350 - 3 speed automatic
TH400 - 4 speed automatic

That's it

What are the other codes for transmissions and transfer cases and what do they do or makes them different or special from each other?????

Th400 is a 3 spd.

Th700r4 is a 4sp od auto.

M465 is a 4 spd manual, with a granny low gear for first.

A833 is a 4spd manual, with an od fourth gear

No codes for transfer cases that I recall but it depended year models, the transmission combo and whether the truck was 1/2, 3/4, and 1 ton.

Like what is a NV4500 trans and NP205 transfer case, etc.

Well, one is a 5 speed transmission, and the other is a transfer case. In this case it's stuff that is pretty commonly found on google, literally one of the first few results I found. Some things don't really need a specific thread in an obscure forum when you can easily find it in a search engine that has been around 20 years...

NV= New Venture, like explained before. NP=New Process.

NV4500 is a 5spd manual od, typically used in the heavier light trucks (3/4 and 1 ton stuff) often said to be kind of like a M465 with od.

NV3500= 5spd manual commonly found in the 1/2 ton trucks or smaller vehicles
NV3550= same as a NV3500, but used by Chrysler/Jeep, and has a removable bell housing

NP208, NP231, NP241, and many others, are transfer cases used by many of the domestic big three, in varying configurations depending on model and which side the front differential resides on.
