I used to do them on everything. Then I had a fan lock up on me and no air flow.

Now I just use clutch fans lol.

Harris Performance (TBI Chips) has a few thoughts on this:
http://tbichips.com/?page_id=46

I've considered it as well for the R20 but haven't made any moves yet. I'm more tempted by an LS1 (LT1 much different?) fan setup because of reliability - or at least what I perceive as a more reliable setup than the systems offered on places like Amazon. I suppose you can seize one of these anywhere, any time though.

I will be putting one on my square, since it's a street strip C10 and unlikely to cause issue, but my offroad vehicles see too much crap

Is it worth the expense to convert to an electric fan setup?
Is the lack drag on the motor noticeable?

It really depends.

If you have an older direct driven fan, then absolutely.

If you have a properly working clutch fan, then not so much.

Of course, people swear by them, but when it comes to actual evidence, not alot out there.

It does at least clean up the engine compartment.
