Drive shaft availability?

I need a drive shaft for my 1977 C10 short bed 2WD with a TH350 6" tail shaft. Center to center on the U-Joint caps is 59 3/8" My question is, what can I find this shaft in? Cars, Trucks, Burbs??? And what years?
This is just a temp fix to get the truck running until I can get the 700R4 built. So, I don't want to get a drive shaft built. I just need a junk yard part.

59-3/8" MT is manual transmission...That's going to be a hard one to find. You;re positive on that length?

Okay, here's the deal. The transmission I had in the truck originally was a TH350 with a 9" tail. It went south so I sold it. The drive shaft for it measures 56 3/8" C to C on the U-Joint caps.
I have a 700R4 that is the same length as the old 350. (9" tail) So, the 56 3/8" drive shaft will work fine once I get that transmission built.
In the mean time, I really need a running truck. A friend has given me another TH350 with a 6" tail.
So, I need a drive shaft 3" longer then the one I have, or, 59 3/8".
That's why I don't want to have a shaft built. This is just a temp fix until I get the 700R4 built.

Manual trans is likely going to be fixed yoke, with a slip shaft in the shaft itself. Your TH350 requires a slip yoke in the rear of the trans. Not going to work.

So, after calling 47 wrecking yards in the Slat Lake area, I discovered that there wasn't a drive shaft made for a 117" wheel base with a Th350 with a 6" tail shaft.
On to plan 'B'

I needed a 60.5" shaft. Just had to have it made. It was $550 for new everything. You can take your old shaft to be re-tubed, or any old one you dig up, and it will be about $350 with new joints, using all the old yokes.

Whereabouts did you have your DS made up? I've been looking around Austin but I'm either retarded at searching, or everything I find has bad reviews.

I can't give a rave review to anyone in Austin. For a stock, driver quality shaft, I use Scotty's on Airport Blvd. Inland Truck Parts is in a new facility out on East 290, but it's the same crew that was at the old Austin Drivetrain located on 183 just off I-35. Didn't like them then, don't like them now. Their work may be fine, but not on my dime.

For a performance shaft, Driveshaft Specialists in San Antonio is who we (local speed shops) all seem to be using. Ordered mine via email, had it in 3 days.

Thanks for the info! I had looked at Inland in the past for a rear axle rebuild, but they quoted $1300 with the axle out of the vehicle. Waaay too pricey for my blood for a basic R&P job w/ an Eaton Posi, so that kind of turned me off to them. I'll check out Driveshaft Specialists.
