I have a 1986 K10 w 350 I recently changed intake and carburetor to Edelbrock 600 brand new in box and upon starting it instantly filled crankcase w fuel and wouldn't restart. I changed oil and added a fuel regulator and tried again w same result...any help or knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

Did you buy genuine Edelbrock or Chineese knock off? Can you visibly see fuel running out of the carb and down the intake. Probably can. If you can you most likely have a stuck float,a stuck needle,a float set incorrectly or dirt in the needle. You can some times free a stuck float or needle and seat by tapping on the carbureator in the vicinity of the needle. Look up a dighram of your carb to see where the needle is located. I am assuming you are running a stock mechanical pump.

Yes sir mechanical pump...yes bought cearb from O'Reilly so not Chinese knock off . I did try tapping with handle of screwdriver near float..watched a couple you tube videos and a couple different people talked about pulling open a brand new carb to adjust float...I feel when I almost spent 500 dollars I shouldn't have to pull apart ..I definitely had your same thoughts and appreciate your reply

Return it, O’Reillys has a return policy that you can use called “Customer Dissatisfaction” for a reason. I worked for O’Reilly and it is a known policy if you decide to go that way. Call their corporate line if you get grief.

That is definitely the route I was headed..do you recommend a carb that is best right out of box ? Or do you feel I just received a faulty carb? TIA

They all have their pros and cons, Edelbrocks CAN be fussy, I lean to Holley but can be pricey. See if others chime in, there’s some smart guys here.

Are you sure it was new you'd be surprised how many items get sold and dumped back on the shelf after being returned a day or two later when someone discovers the swap didn't fix their issue and it gets passed on to be the next guy's problem. I have found this to be common with a lot of local/chain parts stores. Starters, alternators, carbs, distributors are common for this to happen with, even seen used lifters that ended up back in a stores inventory that somehow was returned as if they were the new ones and no one caught it or didn't know/care enough.

Also, Edelbrock sells the carbs that were sent back and tested as good discounted as remans reputable places will say it's a reman and will be discounted like a hundred bucks some others will sell these as new for normal price.

I've never had an issue with an Eddy new or reman but that doesn't mean one wasn't installed then returned full of garbage and then dumped on the shelf instead of being sent back to Eddy to be checked out.
