My cruise control release switch went bad a few months ago and I replaced with a different style which was the only thing available and it didn't last at all. The switch that was on the truck was a black GM style with only a vacuum line connection. GM part #407437. The only thing available at parts store is white and has an electrical connector by the vacuum line hookup. Standard part #SLS234. Anyone know if these are interchangeable or where to get the original style without paying an arm and a leg for NOS?

Have you tried taking the vacuum switch apart to repair it?

If I understand what you are saying- the electrical connector is probably for valve clutch converter release on a 700r4 transmission (cuts power). The Vacuum part of the switch should still work the same- electrical portion is a none issue-

I have a feeling if you look at the brake switch- it will have your brake light connector and your cruise control connector plugged in. On that switch when you press the pedal, brake lights get power but the cruise control cuts power. (have to make sure you plug them in the correct spot or they do opposite)

Unfortunately, I threw away the original without thinking when it was bad and I ordered the new one.

And Jgonick, that's correct. Both the brake light and cruise are connected to the brake light switch. As long as the vacuum part of the switch works I assume it should be ok, just checking if anyone has tried it.

Thanks to both of you.
