Can you add a dome light to a truck

I apologize for bumping a dead thread but I wanted to ask some follow up here. I too have a Custom Deluxe that did not come from factory with a dome light or a headliner. I have a courtesy light, and door switches, but the courtesy light only illuminates when I set my lamp switch to the dome...

    Symptoms of a bad/failing ECU?

This is where I found mine. I checked the RPO's and the 208 matches, so it's not like it's a swap (maybe it is, maybe the prior owner trashed the t.c. and swapped this in and left it off?) But the position sensor was present, just buried way back in the tunnel on the top of the housing. Case...

    Symptoms of a bad/failing ECU?

It wasn't missing, for whatever reason the P.O. (prior owner) had disconnected it? I have no idea why. Oil pressure gauge is next, it pegs at engine start and stays there, but if I kill the motor and turn the lights on it drops to 30-ish PSI. Guessing that's likely a ground issue, looking up...

    Symptoms of a bad/failing ECU?

Hooowee. I have an NP208 case. And if thats the right diagram, it's missing. I found a two pin black/white harness dangling by the front output shaft. This P.O. is a bit of a arsehole it seems. Gonna take this diagram under the truck and see if I can sort out where it would thread in and go...

I'll get up under there tonight and take a look

    Some vent window lessons learned

I just did my vent windows using rubber from RubberTheRightWay.com. they went in well, and it was also my experience that while installing the seal in the rounded frame, I had to start by seating the bottom edge by sliding it it, then the elbow and top runs by seating the interior more narrow...

    Symptoms of a bad/failing ECU?

So, just wanted to provide an update and closure. After the diagnostics last weekend proved the ground path to the ECM was solid, and that with key on grounding C419/pin A5 to the chassis allowed the light to kick on, I debated, then I opted to order a remanned ECM from ACDelco. Just got it in...

    Symptoms of a bad/failing ECU?

Also, I determined using the pinout guide you provided that my first tests performed the night before my initial reply weren't actually valid, the ones I described in the linked post below, as I had backprobed the wrong wires on the ECU harness. I think thats also part of the issue, as I hadn't...

    Symptoms of a bad/failing ECU?

My brake lights do work, yes. But I feel like we're saying the same things, and that maybe I am just relating it poorly. I followed the flow chart above for "Does engine start" = yes. I pulled the battery leads, I disconnected both harnesses from the side of the ECM, reconnected the battery...

    Symptoms of a bad/failing ECU?

System grounds are good on both harnesses. So sounds like an ECU fault yea?

    Symptoms of a bad/failing ECU?

Okay, so, progress. Put my standard 12V test light on ground, tapped A5 at the ECU with the key on I had an SES light as long as I was tapped into A5. I'll check the system grounds to make sure everything is solid on that side and go from there.

    Symptoms of a bad/failing ECU?

Gotcha, like probe that 419 circuit to one leg of the bulb and the other to a body ground

    Symptoms of a bad/failing ECU?

The connector for the light at the back of the cluster? Or at the ECM harness?

    Symptoms of a bad/failing ECU?

The bands, like the printed circuit on the back? I was really hoping it would just be a cut wire someplace I have been considering getting the parts to do a tach in the cluster, as currently I only have the massive fuel gauge on the right. Last I checked LMC had the circuit sheets, maybe I...

    Symptoms of a bad/failing ECU?

Okay, thanks for the pinout data, I could not find that. What manuals do these come from? I have the 87 FSM and Wiring Diagram, but could not find some of these in there, nor the "Computer Control" diagrams the prior poster had provided in their replies. I do have good bulbs, tested that. I...
