    Adding gauges

I put these in my non-AC K20 15 years ago. You can see them but they do take more than a glance. Only problem is reflection off the back window at night. However, my intent was to eventually make an angled mount so the would all face towards me at a slight angle. I used a hole saw. Probably...

    Driveshaft angles with Ranger Overdrive

I am in the final stages (hopefully) of installing an Advance Adapters Ranger overdrive unit in my '80 K20. It bolts to the stock bell housing in front of the trans and transfer case (SM465 & NP205), and adds 7.5" to the drive train stack. I relocated the cross member accordingly but realized...

    Grille

I like the stock grill better than tubes too.

Best Tie Rods Ends & Front Suspension parts?

I like Moog because they will re-engineer parts to resolve OEM deficiencies when applicable. I just replaced the drag bar and all the tie rod ends on my 1980 K20 and found their quality to be good, and the rubber boots very sturdy. Replaced the sleeve adjusters as well and found them to be...

Looking for Down Pipes for '76 K20 with a 350

I just finished converting back to stock exhaust manifolds after my headers rusted out. I used the PYPES DGU135 parts below. Order from Summit - although they are GM they are are for G body not for trucks. The driver's side worked great and fit right over the cross member. On the passenger side...

Regardless, thanks for the thread. I had never heard of this modification before. You learn something new every day!

A definite deal. My favorite headlight configuration too.

Ignition Timing for First-Generation GM V-8 Engines

I always used old factory shop manuals (1960's/early 70's) which listed the total advance for a certain distributor - as a guideline. You can install an adjustable vacuum advance unit and put a timing tape on your harmonic balancer. Then with the timing light you can see what is actually going...

    Sears Lathe

Typically Sears lathes were made by Atlas. There is a ton of information and parts available. The sprockets are to drive the cutter for machining threads. While it is a great help to have the auto feed running, it will still do standard turning my cranking the tool head manually. The link below...

1987 GMC cab forward sheet metal on 1980 CK20 cab

Thanks Craig and bucket. Great information, now I know what I need to do. Since the salvage truck is complete, I should be able to use it as a reference. Once I get it all apart, I can figure out the frame rail cuts for the bumper brackets and the cowl mods for the hood.

1987 GMC cab forward sheet metal on 1980 CK20 cab

Hi Folks, I have acquired a 1987 pickup for parts and I want to put the the front clip on my 1980 (call me crazy but I like the cleaner lines and dual headlights of the later models). I looked through the threads but it I can only find posts going the other way - 80 style onto a later cab. I am...

Adding mufflers - need to adjust timing and dwell?

I just put in set of turbo mufflers from JEGS - only $24 each and they sound good and are totally tolerable on the highway - can easily talk and hear your radio. Not stainless though and old fashioned rolled steel case so I can't say how long they will last. Dynomax 17702 Part Number...
