Windshield Differences.

Hello, all.

I am going to be replacing the windshield on my '89 Suburban, and I know that '87 and down trucks had the antenna in the windshield, while ''88 and up trucks had the fender antenna. While I've owned both, I've never had to change a windshield between them, and just want to confirm that there are no other differences. I know that Brothers Truck sells a windshield with the antenna in, and just wanted to be sure that it was otherwise compatible with my '89 Burb.

Same other than an antenna

Yes you can use either one.
Antenna on the fender has better reception.

Thanks guys. And yeah, I'll be keeping my fender antenna. It's a guy height indicator for the roof rack when I have to park in low hanging garages in different cities.

How much is freight? I had Safelight come to my house and install a windshield for $200.

Btw, my Blazer is a 91 but I told them it was an 85 to prevent any body style errors in their catalogue.

200? I need a windshield job done and I was expecting a lot more. Was this a long drive out? Or are they charging just installation? I need a windshield for a 96 f150 and they have a place near me, but that kind of tells me it shouldnt be too expensive if thats how much an old truck with at-home service cost

I’m in town so their place is about a 7 mi / 20 min drive. The price was total; glass, labor, etc.

I gave the guy an extra $20 though, he was just over 5’ and my truck has 43’s so he was climbing during the whole job. lol

Last time needed a windshield picked up directly from local windshield place for $100. Relatively easy to install
