Anyone have a spare OEM set they willing to part with that would fit a 79 round eye? Without having to sell a limb or anything. Or know of a place to source them? I’ve seen the OER but from what I’ve bought from them, products seem like garbage. Thanks for the input

"Bumperette" aka Bumper guard.

Looks like they go for about $100 to $300 on eBay.

I like your "Bumper fangs" name, that's a way better name than "Bumperette"

I have a couple good sets for 73-80 chrome bumper. I can get you a pic tomorrow if interested.

Thanks for the reply. My cousin said he might have an extra set in his barn loft. Fingers crossed, said I could have them. If it falls through and they some how disappeared, I will follow up with you. Thanks again

I actually got a good set on Amazon. Been on two years, no rust. But you are right, I think I spent $250 for them
You poor east coasters…..it’s statements like these that make me glad I left the rust belt.
Yikes! I just gave $50 for a set of them 73-80 style. Original rubber inserts almost like new. Theyre just waiting for a deal on an OE bumper that isn’t bent up and isn’t the wrap around rubber guard style like what’s on my ‘77.
BTW any market for this style of original wrap around bumper guard? They’re in perfect shape, could pop them out tomorrow for the right price. That bumper is going bye bye soon anyways.
Anyone local to here could have the bumper as well for free. “Driver quality” lol.
Would have been great if the guy that owned this truck for 45 years before me and only put 70k miles on it didn’t hit, scratch, dent or ding at least one part of the truck every time he drove it. Actually I think even on days he didn’t drive it, if he walked past it, for good measure, he smacked it with the business end of a hammer or screwdriver! And got it too close to his home improvement project because there’s house paint on one corner that cannot be removed.
Idk what brand of paint but it’s held up better than the factory car paint and is solvent proof!
That and the hack that added the left side aux fuel tank circa 1980 and mounted it too high (that’s why the cab looks saggy, it’s actually the bed sitting about 1/4” above the frame rail resting on the “structural” welded steel gas tank). But at least the fuel filler neck sticks out crooked and the hole is about 4” off compared to the factory location so an OE tank/filler swap will require a patch panel on the bedside….lol.

After looking at these, a person may just be able to cobble up something similar to these. A little reverse engineering, personalization, maybe some welding and Viola! Bumper Fangs! Start selling them on this forum! Even replacement pads are still available to add on. Having a CNC machine would be a plus too.

Sounds like my 78 24.5k registered 4 times for 4 years each time (regos were all in the glove box) but somehow damaged every time he looked at it. The plate that was on it when it was delivered in 2023 from Washington expired in 2012 and I'm guessing the engine was froze because it had a new short block in it when it arrived so they could sell it as a running truck. The rust belt sucks so bad shipping stuff in from the other end of the country is a better deal than buying local at this point. LOL! I paid half of what I could find one for local to me at the time.

UPDATE:

Ok so my cousin came through on these “ Fangs, Bumper Guards, Thingies, Bumperettes” whatever floats your boat wanna call them. Well, anyone know where I can get the rubber bolt in type pads? Ordered some from LMC and evidently No Bueno without doing some modification. Not really wanting to do that. Anyone know where to buy the correct bolt in rubber pads? Thanks
