You mean Home Deathspot because most people that go in there go home with tools and supplies and no clue...... reminds me of a few threads I won’t mention.

holy *****! those are the biggest MFing mirrors I've witnessed on a pickup in some time. they seem to need a few more support brackets tied into the body somewhere. if the upper support breaks loose and they fall horizontal, you might take flight.

Those aren't factory mounting holes. It's hard to say what the truck had originally if the doors aren't original and if there's no SPID label in the glovebox.
Can you tell by the nutsert inserts or the location of the holes on the trim line?

Location of the holes. The small factory tripod mirrors had the two lower holes above the character line in the body.

I'm trying to recall where the small tripod mirrors mounted. I had a set on the '79 I had in HS, and thought that all three legs of the mount were tubular. But, I haven't owned that truck since about '97 so the memory ain't what it used to be.

Can you tell by the nutsert inserts or the location of the holes on the trim line?

The factory mirrors mount above the body crease. Also, those mirrors pictured used to be sold at parts stores as universal mirrors. See how the top support has that long slot in it? That's to adjust the angle.

Also, those bottom two holes have those plastic inserts like you would find in a license plate bracket. The only thing keeping them from spinning is the layer of paint/primer/ filler surrounding them.

If they bug you, a set of the factory small tripod mirrors might fit the current mounting locations with some tweaking.

Personally, I don't think they look too bad.

They aren't so great on a dually. They could use some longer posts to get them out away from the door some.

But then again, my old van had a set of them too and I didn't care for them then either, lol.

I agree partially, my pass. side needs to be a bit higher because most of it is blocked by the door.

I'm not sure if your truck even had the factory tripod mirror. After looking at your top nut-sert, I looked at several pictures of my '79 K15. The picture below is the best I could find to illustrate. Post #10 also shows that the nut-sert for factory mirrors is between the wing window post and the shaft for the wing window handle. Your's is ahead of the handle shaft.
