I was under the impression the two tone models had the roof and bottom color the same.
My burnt orange and white, should have a white roof?
Anyone know what the conventional two tone...would be called?

Different year models did different schemes. I've had an 84 and an 85 C20's. Both were brown and tan Two Tone. One had the back of the cab and roof the 2nd Tone Color, the other had the back of the cab and roof the same as the main color brown. Not sure what they did exactly in the round eye era. Hopefully someone else can give their .02 cents, or at least a damn penny.

Neither my '79 and '80 had the roof painted a lighter color.

Not sure if it'll show in these pics or not. Both are C20's. 1 a 84 Scottsdale is Brown over the cab, 1 a 85 Silverado is tan above the cab band.

The different roof color was a secondary two-tone option.

Ive always been curious of this because every two tone big ten ive seen has the secondary color top above the band and mine does not. Was it another option to get that?

I usually reference this graphic. No idea of its origins though.

Those are the 80's combos. The 70's were a little different due to where the body trim was placed.

agreed, the details of the scheme were certainly different. but were the scheme names the same?

if so I'd guess that the OP's two tone would be called 'exterior decor package'

I don't recall the names of the paint schemes. But due to the trim design, most had the secondary color along the midsection of the bodyside. But the roof could still be optioned with the secondary color in this case.

There was also the scheme for trucks with just the upper portion of body trim. On those, the secondary color was on basically the whole bodyside.

Then there was also the occasional truck that had a two tone bodyside but the roof was painted a third color.

The two tone schemes were optional. There's ZY1 (solid), ZY2, ZY3, ZY4 and ZY5 (also a ZY6, for a short period of time), each with a little different combination.

'78 color combinations shown for convenience, since I already had it downloaded.
