I have a 1979 4x4 K10 custom deluxe with 350 motor and 3 speed column shift and NP205 transfer case. I wanted to swap 3 speed for a SM465. Will this be a direct bolt up or what parts mite I need? will this require drive shaft work? Thanks for any information.

It depends on what trans you have now. If you currently have a th350, you need an SM465 with a 10 spline output, along with an sm465/np205 "figure 8" pattern adapter, and also the 10 spline coupler sleeve. Your np205 would also need a 10 spline input installed. Driveshafts should be the correct length. Likely easier just to by the entire trans/t-case combo and sell what you have now (tends to be more valuable too).

And that's assuming you currently have a th350.
