I'm going to apologize now for this post as it will be lengthy to cover the details.

71 C10 short box turbo 400 with shift kit 12 bolt rear with 4.10s

Build specs
350 4 bolt .040 over
Flat top pistons
Ported and polished 441 head
Summit k1103 CAM- 214int./224exh. @ 050
Performer intake with edelbrock 600 carb
MSD 6al box, dist(mech advance) and coil
Timing is set to 12btcd and at 3500rpm around 36
Vac at idle is 16hcg steady.

My issue is it still feels like a dog.like Slower than before I rebuilt it. And it's seems to run way hot. If your wonder why I rebuilt it well the Valve seals were shot compression was 120 timing chain had so much slop it was hitting the cover oil pump was plugged ect.

Also should add I had a Holley double pumper 750 on it before but I blew the power valve during first start up due to timing being 180 off

What did you do to tune the carb, or did you just plop it on there?

Fix the Holley and try again.

That's one option.

Another is to get a rebuilt Qjet from SMI Carbs. Have Sean Murphy tune one for your build.

And the other is to tune the Edelbrock. They work fine if you tune them. They get a bad rap from people that just drop them on there, don't bother to tune them, and then say they suck. GM used them for a long time. If set up properly, they do a great job.

Are you sure the cam sprocket is not installed a tooth off?

What carb were you running before the rebuild?

How old is the carb. Holley has been putting power valve protectors in quite some time. Advance that timing until you get valve rattle and then retard it a couple degrees.
