th 400 torque convertor

I am looking for advice on a torque convertor for a stock 454 with a th400. Who makes good stuff? And who to stay away from.

All depends on what you want to spend and what your power level is. Also what you use your truck for.

I drive the truck back and forth to work. no towing , and when the motor gets pulled it will not get to much more than a stock motor.

So as it goes , on tear down I noticed that the front servo shaft is in 3 pieces. does any body know if this is a common failure point? or what would cause this failure? I will post pictures in a few. thanks

It's not an everyday failure but it does happen, in fact I have one here now that has that problem, there stronger pins available to fix that.

Hey atleast it has the aluminum piston, that I’d be replacing anyway.

RockAuto has the best price for a stock replacement converter. I think it was like $60 after core return. Dacco was the brand. I have one in mine. Installed about a month ago. No complaints so far.
