Folks,

Can anyone tell me what this extra bracket is for under my A/C compressor? It's on a 1991 Suburban V1500 with a 5.7 TBI engine. The bracket has not been drilled but there are spots that look like they should be drilled for pivots or mounting. Maybe for a second A/C compressor or a second alternator???? There is a location for another idler pulley also and it is threaded. Inquiring minds want to know. Any ideas are welcomed. The vehicle was used for a county emergency management vehicle and is bone stock with manual windows and locks, bench seat and vinyl flooring.

I was replacing the water pump and radiator when I noticed it.

Thanks

Charlie

That's just a mount for a smog pump. Most '89-up didn't run them.

Thanks....that never occurred to me. My 88 does not have the serpentine nor a spare spot like that. Problem solved.
