I want to say we got those encyclopedias in the late 70s early 80s. I’m sure you remember door to door salesmen.
Sure do.. I still have a set that dates back before the Kennedy assassination..

That's true.. Unless a "helper" is watching the other end, how would one know when the cable is full?? Grease could be forced into the head which is a definite no-no.. Plus proper lubrication doesn't require the housing to be full.. Too many possibilities of a screw-up for me to use the grease injection method...

That's what she said.

I'm not sure if the 3 in 1's attract dirt or not, but that's the reason dry film is preferred.

Good point. Dry lube is better for sure, but only for speedometer cables.

I love the smell of DDT in the morning.
All
You gotta do is move to Toone TN
Company called Velsicol
(who was fined $7 million for doing it , compared to $3 Billion for VW software cheats)
buried 600,000 fifty five gallon drums of DDT there in the 70s

I decided to make my own per the suggestion early in the thread. It's worth it if you have denatured alcohol, but it can get expensive if you don't, and then it's more worth while to just buy the premixed stuff. If you have a way to draw it up and inject it into the head of the cable as a paste, do that. The more alcohol you use, the less homogenized it seems to be. I used denatured alcohol from Walmart, dry graphite from O'Reilly's, a dropper to inject it, and an old detergent lid to mix it:

It hushed the clunk noise that the cable was making perfectly. I did back up and go forward about thirty yards a few times, and I drove around the driveway, which is an eighth of a mile to suck it down in there.

I just bought a little thing of white lithium from the store and let the cable get covered in it as I fed it back into the sleeve, worked pretty well, still bounces a little tho
