Anyone in Northern AZ or Southern NV depending on where he actually is, mtnmankey aka Kevin is in a bind and can use some help getting some rear brake drums off of a 14b SF rear axle.

That's the best joke I have heard in a long time.

Thanks for making me snicker.

Brake drum is off !!
I had forgotten an old trick that sometimes works, tapping on the drum between the studs with a hammer.
It took a herd of taps, but I finally heard the sound change that told me the drum wasn't glued on any more and would come off.

Only way to do that is move it to a members only section in here. This is not a public view map per say, only those who can find the link posted and click on it can see it. That is why I did not choose to embed the actual map into the first post. There is no way to password protect the map itself.

All you are donating is your zip code so it's not showing your house. Or pick a zip code or 2 away to use if you are worried about privacy.

Good job. Heat helps too, like a small propane torch to heat that area up you were hitting.

There you go. The WD-40, or Release soak whatever you chose to use, and the light tapping will usually get it done. That sound change was when the rust finally let go. What can help that in the future, last thing you do before you put the drum back on to finish up the job, put some white lithum grease or some vaseline on the face of the axle around all the wheel studs and around the centering lip where the drum touches the axle. In hopes when the drum needs to come off again in 5-7 years, it will release easier.

I don't think anyone is worried about their zip code. I think what he's referring to is, members names or phone #'s to be able to call someone up directly in that area.

Seems to be unblocked again at work right now, and I finally am getting caught up and getting some play time here and there all of a sudden. We'll see how long that lasts.

You can add me to the list as well. Looks like I'm pretty close to offroad-cowboy. I'm down in Gastonia near the SC border.... 28056. Got plenty of room in my garage to work on something if needed, have a decent amount of tools as well.

Tow bar, hand tools, air tools, welder, cherry picker, jack & jack stands, very precious few spare parts, beer.
We will probably have to **** with the tow bar to make it work though, haven't had to use it yet.
