Old street signs work well it's light compared to equally thick steel and durable.

Maybe the CUCV II trucks (gmt400 platform) got a skid plate up front, my square CUCV doesn't. The only skid plates mine has are for the t-case, and fuel tank.

Diesel trucks (maybe not all, I really don't know) got a plastic shield up front that screwed to the bottom of the frame rails. It might have been to help with sound deadening, but it acts as a splash guard too.

At any rate, I've got one I can let go of, but I won't be home for a week or so.

Pulling up an old thread.

How far forward/back did the splash guards go? Bumper to transmission?

Most CUCV's Blazers did come from the factory with a skid plate mounted on the cross member and it was a pretty healthy chunk of metal. I am not sure about the pickups but I'm pretty sure they would have it also because it was essentially the same drivetrain (not counting axles and springs).

I’ll concur with csfj, only skids at the transfer case and fuel tank shields for the pickups.

Glad you are. Unless i find one soon my uncle and i are gonna fab one for his 81 and one for my 74
I was looking for a way to help keep water/mud out of the engine bay. Keep things a bit cleaner, maybe slightly reduce the air drag.

Could go full smooth bellypan with cutouts for the driveshafts.

It's a truck shaped like a brick.... How much do you think a tray underneath is going to really help airflow?
