Should I cut more coil?

Big block is tempting. I have a few different ideas in mind for the future of this truck

Didn't realize that you flipped the axle...so unless the front settles.....you may want to make certain that the front springs are seated in the upper mount correctly. If the front sits higher still, then you answered your own question in your original post.


Since you stated that you will carry a load in the bed, have you considered air shocks or bags to offset the rear end squatting?

Forgot about the possibility of air shocks guess I would need shock extender brackets also. Didn't want to do bags at this point. If I was going to bag it I'd of wanted to do a 4 link

How about coilovers?a bit more predictable then air shocks.

I'm seriously thinking about a 4link and coil overs for mine. I need traction and strength. Want to eliminate spring wrap.

I built my own Caltracs for my s10 with pretty sticky 315/35/17s with out issue except clearance I'd hit **** a lot with them

Much better to get shorter springs and maintain the number of coils.

Technically, a shorter spring with the same number of coils will be a softer spring.

If the front doesn't settle much over time, just cut 2" off the end of each coil spring at a time to sneak up on the ride height you want.

If you have factory half-ton coil springs in it, consider installing some one-ton front springs. They are quite a bit stiffer (thicker metal), which helps it actually ride better at a lowered height because you won't be bottoming out as much.

I think they are 1/2 ton springs.2 owners before me used it to tow his race car trailer with it and the lady I bought it off of had someone put different springs in the rear that's how I ended up with the 56in springs jammed into the 52 in location. It ride so bad the rest shackles were unrolling off the lower bushing

I just F'd up and cut 1 and 1/2 coils put of mine and it is on the bumpstops. Of course my truck was a 6cyl truck swapped to a 350,so i don't know if they replaced the front springs or not!

Yikes.....If I were you, I would just buy drop coils at this point. The spring rate is better than cut oem coils imho.
