I have a 1979 C10 with tilt column. My turn signal switch has a crack in the plastic where the levers attaches and the plastic is flexing. I want to replace the switch. However, I can't seem to find the right part. I see switches for tilt columns for 1976. And I see switches for columns without tilt for 1977-1983.

Will the 1976 columns switch work or is there a turn signal swich for 1977-1983 columns with tilt?

Tilt switch wiring is longer than 'non-tilt' type.
That's the only difference I know of. Between years...I don't know.
Have you tried using epoxy to repair the crack?

No. I haven't even torn it down yet. I was missing the column shift linkage cover thing that encases the shift linkage rod as well as a new lock cylinder. My turn signal switch still clicks in both directions but you can see the crack when you peek in where the lever attaches. Can also fell the flex. I may try some good epoxy on it first. I will see how it looks when I get it all torn apart.

I was just checking in case I would need to order a new part.

Does your column have that tilt slop in it? It maybe a good idea to tear it down to the nub to threadlock those four bolts since you’ve got to replace those parts.

That sounds like the cam is broken. Better to replace than repair.

Upon further review of the play..... I have determined that there is a small crack in the plastic of the turn signal switch itself where the lever is attached. It appears that someone torqued down too hard on the screw and cracked it or it just wore out over the past four decades.

Either way, for the price of a new one, I think I am going to attempt to repair the crack. And if it does not turn out well, I will buy a new one then.

Anytime I epoxy plastic pieces like that I reinforce with wire ties. Cut pieces to length to use as needed.
