I'm in need of the coveted passenger side drop NP241c that came in 88-91 Burbs and K5s so I can utilize a 4L60E in my LS swap. I've found one that came out of a 91 GMC Jimmy that was behind a 700r4. He says he does not see an I.D. tag on the case, but assures me it came out of the 91 full size Jimmy. In the pictures it looks to have the VSS on the tailshaft but wanted to get some more eyes on this if I could. He claims its a 208 and that is where my uncertainty comes from as I'm no expert on T-case identification.

Thanks for your help in advance!!

NP208, more than likely was hooked to a 700R4 overdrive auto trans.

But it doesn't have a speedo cable housing and there is what looks to be a VSS pickup conection where the cable housing would reside. Also the manufacturer tag is not in the typical 208 location. It was behind a 700r4 but came out of a 91 K5. From what I understand after 89 the remaining squarebodys were 241c.

That's distressing information. Are they that hard to find? Now I have to consider the possibility of someone stealing my truck for it's t-case??

Haha!! They are getting harder to find but not that bad lol! Most folks resort to modifying their 208's which is a great solution, and you can always find a new one if you have the flow for it. But to find a used one that the owner doesn't want $300+ for is indeed getting harder to find!

If you look at the back side of the 208 vs the front, a 208 has a mechanical speedo housing for the cable to attach to, and only has the single electrical connection I believe for the indicator light. In the pictures I have there is a second plug on the tailshaft that I believe to be a VSS connection. I'm not saying your wrong, just simply explaining what I see. He thinks its a 208 as well. The guy is out of town till Saturday evening and said he would clean the manufacturer tag off and snap a pic for me.

I was hoping someone on here would for sure be able to tell me. I'll be making the 1.5 hour drive to scoop it up.

I believe you are correct, looking at the bosses above the front output in this pic of a 241C they match yours, and not of the pic of the 208 I posted...
