Hi Everyone,

Long time reader, first time poster. I'm having a bit of a problem. I've got a 1980 K10 Scottsdale with the 12-bolt truck rear end torn down to the frame and am just in the process of putting it all back together. I'm basically putting everything back to stock configuration, other than a 4" lift and a 700R4 transmission. My problem is in the rear drum brakes. I've got all the hardware I took out of it, and from a parts truck I bought, but am still missing a crucial piece. Neither truck has the lever for the park brake cable to attach too that actuates the shoes when the park brake pedal is pressed. I can't seem to find one anywhere on the web. I've looked at Truck, Classic Industries, Rock Auto, Ebay, random Google search and have come up totally empty. I know I don't really need the park brake with an automatic trans, but I sure would like to have one. Does anyone know where I can find the lever for both sides or if there is another year, make, model that interchanges? I'm at a loss.

Thanks all.

Bluex-http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cc/full.aspx?Page=149 if you go to this link and look at the picture (#7) this part is listed as the "parking break lever". i am having the same problem as cross threader. the problem is where the parking break cable attaches to the parking break shoe/lever located behind the rear break shoe, that part seems impossible to find. if anyone has any info on where to purchase this part that would be great! Thanks!

(also a newly to this forum, 1st post here)

Look at page #148. It's showing #7 as park brake lever for $6.95 as bluex said. Part #34-4682 for 1/2 ton 4x4. I just tried it and was able to put 2 in a cart.

I am having the same problem still. There is no parts diagram on page 148, so I'm assuming it's the diagram on page 149.

The part we need is "ghosted-out" with no reference #. Part #7 on pg 149 is actually the horizontal bar between the shoes; not the lever than connects to the cable.

Looks like the GM part number might be #15594177 for the Left Side, but no sign of the right side. Anyone know if they're the same for both sides?

I had to get one for my truck as well. I ended going to a salvage yard and obtaining one.

You're need it for a 10 bolt right? Right hand side in a 10 bolt rear axle? I don't have one, but let's specify which rear axle you have.

After 2 weeks of wasting time with phone calls and research, here's the consensus...

The parts are discontinued by GM, so junkyards and ebay are really your only 2 options.

Classicparts.com has them posted online, but they could not fulfill the order and I had to cancel it. Only took them a week to finally tell me that.

When searching, here are your key words / part numbers:

Ok, so you only need one for one side right? So here's what you do UNTIL you find one or one of us come with one. The side that you don't have the E brake part, take the cable going to the side and tie it off or clamp it off to a hole in the frame or wherever you can find, to where that cable can't move. So that way when you do use your park brake, the cable will at least pull on the one side. In most cases that's all you need to hold a truck rolling unless it's a real steep slope or it's loaded heavy.
