I need to replace a bulb in this light assy but can't get the thing to come apart. It seems like the center piece should come out first but I've tried every which way to pop it loose but no luck. Anyone else have one of these apart before?

Maybe that's a common problem and the previous owner super glued mine.

The glue thing sounds logical! If mine kept falling down I'd either glue it or throw it out the window while driving down the road due to my anger mangement issues :) that kinda stuff angers me:)

Done and fixed. The pic of the tab location really helped. I just had to squeeze between the tabs with my 18" channel locks and ignore the scary sounds the plastic was making before it popped loose. I've messed with that thing for years but always gave up because I figured I was doing something wrong. Today it was like "OK you sumbitch, you can come off in one piece or several, but you're coming off."

Thanks 89S.

Some reason mine don't sit right on the base, you can tell by the first pic. If that thing ever hits me in the head it's going out the window like you said, lol. Did you notice I have no bulb in there? I hate interior lights at night that turn themselves on. I disconnect that ****, first thing I do when I buy a vehicle. If I need a light, I'll turn the headlight knob or I'll click one of those little round lights on on that overhead thingy.

That's another thing to keep in mind guys, Burbans in the junkyard with those headliner light units waiting to find a new home, just like those under hood light reel things too. :High 5:

Yikes, channel locks, lol. I am afraid to grab it by hand! I bet it was making funny noises.

Long time listener first time caller.

I have a 91 GMC R2500. Mine is missing this exact cover. Any links to a part number or replacement?

Thanks in advance!
