I'm looking at buying a turbo 400 for my 1987 Chevy pickup truck, the turbo 400 comes with a NP203 transfer case, would i be able to do a direct swap into the truck? if not would the NP208 bolt up tp the turbo 400? will i need adapter plates? any help would be awesome.

No, the NP208 will for sure not bolt up to that NP203 adapter. Ourput shaft length is probably an issue too. The NP205 might be OK on the output shaft length but I'm not 100% certain on that, but the NP205 has 2 adapter options, 1 being the race track pattern and one being the newer round pattern that is a bit more rare in era of trucks so you'll likely find it on a later model truck but when you do people think they have gold and you may as well just figure out which nut you're willing to give up if you were so lucky to get 2.

Without swapping output shafts, there's nothing that will work in place of that 203.

I learned a little something from looking at that ORD site. I didn't realize the 84 and later Th400/NP205's combos used the standard 2wd output shaft.

I don't need my nuts anymore. Kinda makes me want to find an 84 and later NP205. Since I'm likely to get my K10 running as a 2wd with the 454/Th400 outta my C20, then I just need to find a NP205 w/Adapter for a Th400, then it's just driveshaft work and it'll be a 4x4 without removing the Th400. Though being a non OD trans, might make me go with my 3.73 axles instead of the 4.10's. Fugg it, with an NP205, Th400 and 4.10's I'd just run 35 or 37 inch tires. I won't need OD and have a tough as hell powertrain too.
