So my 79 k10 (T350/np203) is about to get 3/4 ton axles and while im at it i wanna swap out this np203 cus this "full time (peg legger)" is no fun. :shitsweak: So thinking ahead i have no reason to change from a t350 (prolli rebuild) but what np205 should i find to just bolt right up? Also so its clear that 205 alows for 2wd right? Also info on hubs. thanks.

I would reccomend using the mile marker hubs, IMO they have a more positive feel when engauging them, plus there ALL metal, NO plastic.

Not sure which 205 you need but you can convert the 203 to a part time if you want.

He just needs a 27 spline with coupler adapter for an NP205 I do beleive. Th350 is gay and has 2 male trans output and Tcase male input shafts. So you need a coupler as a ***** to join the 2. You know, one gets her in the booty, the other gets her in the cooter. Racetrack pattern is likely what you need.

OR depending on which output shaft your Th350 has currently, and it's compatible with NP205 which I think it is, them possibly a 10 spline coupler.

Really the NP203 doesn't sound to be your issue. You mentioned peg legger. That has to do you with your axles. Put a locker in the rear and a Limited slip in the front, then you can use LOC on your Tcase, and your rock solid other than the limited about of slip up front, which you'll welcome.

VERY expensive!! You should be able to pick up a used one for $150, clean it up, paint it orange, look inside and it more than likely wont need anything but new oil, and run it!! And have at most $200 in it.

They pretty much all drink gas. It's best to have a fuel efficient daily driver and save the heavy chevy for playtime. I know there's no way in hell I could drive mine every day.

Yeah it's hard to make a fast horse slow down! And there's not really any good alternative. The Detroits get a little better fuel mileage, but the fuel is more expensive and you have the trade off in power. The 6 cylinder, same deal with the power, and not a great increase in fuel economy. There is no happy medium EXCEPT to have another vehicle for your longer commutes or daily rides, and save the square for fun time.

I agree. At worst, you could always do a rebuild kit and even later on at your convenience. Rebuild as in, new bearings and gaskets.

What is wrong with putting lockouts on front, and driving in Hi lock? I did it, and got no worse gas mileage than my buddies who had 205's..

Usually got 12-14 on my 1/2 ton, 3" body lift with 36" buckshot mudders.

Ok so off the transfercase subject for a sec i just stubbled across this and im heading that way next weekend. worth the extra 200 miles? http://bemidji.craigslist.org/pts/3140832928.html

Like White on Rice. If you have the cash buy all of it. He says the 44 is missing parts and needs gears. For the money, even if all the 8 lug stuff is there for a 6 to 8 lug conversion then it's still good. Buy both those 14B FF for $150, then sell one for $150 and you just got yourself a FREE 14b FF. If that D44 is missing to much, I'd probably pass on it since it needs gears. Start adding up replacement parts cost, it's now a $500 used axles. Then again, for $75 you're likely not going to get hurt. Offer a package deal, $200 for all of it.
