So I recently put in a new monster heavy duty 700r4 in my 1986 Silverado and just like the last transmission (which I got at a junk yard) after about 50 miles or so it wouldn't shift up or go in reverse. 1st gear worked fine. When I look at it it was about 2 quarts low on ATF and I found that the pan bolts were only finger tight. I topped it of ran it for a bit and the forward gears started to work again but still no reverse. There's no rpm change when I put it in reverse either. It just feels like neutral. Brand new monster transmission and tourqe converter. I'm not a transmission guy so any help would greatly be appreciated! Thank you.

Another Monster transmission, that's a shame. But did you make sure the TV cable and linkage is adjusted "right", if all is correct I'd be calling them up and making them make it good.

Absolutely. You shouldn't have to pay for someone else's mistakes.

Run it,

Chalk the wheels, Run at idle in neutral, get your fluid moving, check you fluid while in neutral, do this for about 10-15mins, place in park, engine running in park adjust fluid level, leave running 10-15min in neutral place in park and recheck. Then place in reverse, see if it works...
