I just got some new front brake pads for my pickup beacuse they were squeaking pretty badly, after about 2 hours of fighting a rounded lug nut i manage to get the tire off. i then proceed to take the caliper off and get the old pads off. when i go to replace the new ones however, they fit perfectly into the hold areas but the pads are to thick to get back over the rotor. any ideas on what i can do to fix this?

I would say make sure the caliper piston is retracted all the way. If it's stuck out at all, you may need to replace the caliper, but you could maybe try squeezing the pad down to see if you can get it to fit. My Jimmy's only been driven about 20,000 miles since 2004, and it's got a stuck caliper on it that I have to replace. I wouldn't discount the possibility of having been given the incorrect pads. Whatever store you bought them from, go on their website and double check the part number for your square and see if what they gave you matches.

That's a good plan. I forgot to mention that. However, if that side starts dragging, or you can feel it pulling in that direction, the caliper will need to be replaced.
