so my speedo cable backed off and I lost all fluid. Trans went to fiat gear only. Pulled over and stopped right away. Trans was hot, smoking hot. Got it towed and speedo cable in and fluid topped off. Working fine now. Am I going to see reduced life or problems down the toad due to this? Or am I ok wince the other gears never enhanced since there was no fluid.

I think it’s hard to say. Heat and friction are obviously a transmission’s worst enemy, but if you pulled over right away, that’s a good sign that damage was minimized if there is any. I think looking at some of the old fluid, checking the pan magnet/checking the pan for particles, or gutting the filter would give you a better idea than anything else.
