Good point, I don't need another daily driver. My focus will be on getting the truck up and running again.

Right that is what I expect the driveline to be too, unless things have been changed in the last 30+ yrs.
It's a Silverado model and is pretty loaded with options. I plan to go out on Friday.

Wow, 10k on a swap!? Definitely not my first choice. Not to mention the amount of work involved (I'll be the one turning the wrenches).
Agree with the odds and ends, the big items are usually straight forward. The odds and ends will burn lots of time and money to iron out.

I'll plan to use as much of the original driveline as possible. I'm sure there will be a rebuild here and there.

it was in quotes as a joke. initially, I only planned on an "engine swap" and a few other things. since that started, I decided to go through the entire truck; restoring or replacing every piece.

Haha, I saw the 10k and lost all senses.
That's my plan too, go through everything, replace/repair where needed. It will just take time.

right, it's really not too bad to end up with a "new" truck at the end.

I'm not saying all the guys, but many that profess to a cheap LS swap should re-label it as a hacked LS engine swap and please don't look under the hood for any beautification, lol. As far as the actual swap goes I have about 3K invested in mine but its all the other stuff I am doing along the way that adds up too. My goal is to make it comparable to what a modern FI powered Jimmy would be, complete with easy to use cruise control, bulletproof rear axle, comfortable (and adjustable) seats and interior, cold AC, and just tailored to what I want my Jimmy to perform and look like. I'm not looking for new looking per say, but reliable, well put together, and clean looking.

    I hear. Reliable and comfortable.
That's how my R10 is. Has it's original driveline but I know when I put the key in it will start, go where I want and be cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Can even set the cruise if I want.

Went out there yesterday, it needs everything but seems to be pretty original. I plan to drag it home next Friday. Yep drag, since it's been sitting for 10+ years. Some rust (small holes) on the right side floor between the front and rear seat. Battery tray and right inner fender also shot. Probably from a battery leaking. Other than that no other rust.
Forgot to take pics. I'll take some when I'm out there next week.

Glad you said Not all the guys, cuz all the LS swaps into squares I've seen with my own eyes and was able to lays hands on it, did a hell of a job. Pretty much other than the K&N Filter Air box and the aftermarket drive by wire gas pedal that was installed, they all looked professional and factory installed.
