Does anybody know if a k30 np205 is the same as a k20 and k10 had in the mid 70s.?

Mostly the same but the input shaft.coupler may be different between the k10 vs k20/k30.

K10's and K20's didn't get the 400/205 combo most years. Other than the 1980 model year, that's a rare combo for them. The only reason they were more common in the K30 is because they were still running that combo after '80.

Just to elaborate, HD transfer cases usually had an input shaft with more splines 32 splines to be exact, where-as the 1/2 variants usually had 27 splines, but I am unsure if there is any condition that would cause the 1/2 ton variant to have a 32 spline input shaft on the NP205.

The truck application doesn't matter much anyway.
465/205 was 10 spline with a coupler through '84 on K30's, but only through '80 on lighter trucks. It became 32 spline in '85 on K30's, (round pattern).

465/208 was 32 spline, (round pattern).

400/205 was 32 spline (round pattern starting in '85).

400/203 was 32 spline.

350/203 was 27 spline.

350/205 was 27 spline with coupler.

350/208 was 27 spline (round pattern).

700/208 was 27 spline (round pattern).

Matching splines aren't everything either. The round pattern cases mated to output shafts that were a different length than the older "figure 8" style used.

When you say the th350 27spline had a couple? What it the coupler? Or are we talking adapter.

The adapter holds a coupler sleeve, both the trans output and t-case input have male stubs.

This is the np205 for the th350 I'm going to pick up. Does it look like it's complete. I mean the coupler and the adapter.

The sleeve is missing and there's no shifter, pivot bolt, or linkage for the shift rails. That stuff can be found online, but it all adds up quick.

That's also from a 1980 model year. The slip yoke on the rear output is the giveaway.
