In search of my fathers old truck

My father had a 1980 Chevy K10 years ago and ended up selling to buy something else I saw the truck to whom he sold it to for awhile after that and said “ damn I wish dad never sold it”. Fast forward about 5 years ago and I saw the truck plowing snow and said “ wow it’s still alive. Now to the present I contacted the original lady my father had sold it to and she can’t remember the guys name so I’m at a dead end. I have the original documentation and vin tag ( CKL14A1101673) is the vin. I’ve had friends that are in law enforcement search the vin and nothing comes up idk if it’s because it pre 81’ with a 13 digit vin. But I’m praying someone out there has the know how to find it! And yes I know it could be in a scrap pile by now. But I hope it’s sitting in someone’s drive way ready to live again! Attached picture is the last one I took when dad owned it

That will definitely make it much more difficult. Was it last known to be in Rhode Island?

Yes Rhode Island and the lady told me she sold it to a guy in Rhode Island I’m know I’m grasping at straws I was hoping someone knew an avenue I didnt

Not sure if this will be any help but it looks like if you make a RI.GOV account (for a fee) you can do a title search with your VIN to get the owner information on the most recent title with that VIN. I'm in Mass so I know nothing about the RI DMV but looks like an avenue for you to check out.

Update: you can do a title inquiry but only to ri.gov subscribers ( there are no one time fees) and the damn subscriptions is 100$ a month and your locked in to a year subscriptions.

Recreate your fathers truck, obviously not the same, but may be your only option. Not sure if you can break down the options by the VIN or not. Great truck, wonderful tribute!

I remember the truck vividly. It would be easy to recreate. I guess I have a soft spot for the original plus it’s kinda fun trying to hunt it down.

I don't remember what website it was but I located a 1972 Olds for my dads friend. The DMV in Texas was no help but I went online and found a place (don't remember who), and paid about 30.00 and they sent me a ton of info on it including every owner since it was new, I found the current owner and my dads friend got to talk to him, that was cool since he bought it new. I would google search and see if you can find a similar site. You won't get the info from the state for some reason. If I find the contact info I'll get back on here with it.

I saw that unfortunately it’s not dads truck, that one has round headlights .
