Are you talking about the $100 Hurst Rebuild Kit??? IIRC, that really doesn't exist. I know I had seen old threads about it and or sending your shifter back to Hurst and they will rebuild it for $100. When I finally found that info, it was $189 for the rebuild kit to do it yourself, or you could send it in to them and it was like $300 for them to do it. I figured if I was to do that, I'd just see about buying a new Hurst Competition Plus shifter for it. I refuse to use a cheap aftermarket Mr Gasket shifter or something of that nature. If you've ever used a Hurst Comp Plus, especially if you raced, you'll know there is a huge difference in shift quality and durability. I'll see what I can dig up. It's been over a year since I found that info now.

BTW, Welcome to GMSB. Now that you've introduced yourself, jump in and start up a build thread on your truck in the Under Construction section. :waytogo:

Hey yall, Sorry it took so long to reply. I got real busy trackin down tranny parts... that school, and work too.. I am originally from East texas, lived 10 years in south Tex (the valley) and now in oklahoma... anyways, I was able to track down a 2 wd shifter, and then I originally bought my bearing kit from ebay.. yeah yeah I know... it was chinese bearings and lasted a whole week maybe.. just found an american surplus in DFW so it will be here tomorrow.. well later today.. but yeah, hey thanks for all the warm greetings!!! I am also in the process of making a custom dash.. will explain more later LOL.

Have you got this shifter on yet and sure it fits. What did it come off of or out of? I know some others having issues finding shifter parts and Hurst is No help at all claiming by the # off the shifter itself, the shifter isn't made anymore, Well Duh, no **** !!! So I'm wondering what aftermarket urst model # will fit it.

Uh Oh, that sucks about the bearings. I'm probably SOL then too. I bought a kit from a guy here that got rid of his A883 so he sold me his kit that he got off of eBay. So I probably have the same junk China kit.

I actually found a shifter on car-parts.com off an 84 2 wheel drive and it fits!!! at least the rods fit. the plate looks differently.. here are a couple pics... and the kit I bought from DFW that was SUPPOSED to be TIMKEN are the same dang Chinese bearings!!!! hopefully they last a little longer =/ the first pic is the Chinese bearing, the second pic is my stock shifter, and the third is the 84 side by side with my 83... now that I look at it, the mounting plate looks different....I know that I put the main housing on the bottom on backwards when I was reassembling my shifter so ignore that part lol.

the bearing number is DTP308-SG8 .... its the equivalent of a 308 LOE

Thanks for the pics. The stick that came with mine is the round one. I'm going to be trying to retrofit my old Hurst stick from back in my racing days with the Muncie 21 and 22. Kinda bring some of the old memories into the the new. It may not work though. I just might hit the dash, but I'm going to try when the time comes.

Maybe I need to take my shifter apart and give it a good going over, and takes plenty of pics for a How To write up.
