Well after months of searching i found a nice used southern tank and a frame bracket for my moms 86 c10 long bed. My question is, what should i use between the tank and bracket? I know it originally had.some kind of material in there. I have.the old rubber floor pieces and insulation from my 87 cab. Would any of that be ok?

Hoping the other guys will respond. I replaced my tank (85) some 12 years ago and I don't remember what I used. I think it was some old rubber belt from work.

I've used strips of old inner tube before on mine, used spray adhesive to hold it on the bracket.

I sold some of those on eBay until the secret was out. You can make them out of heavy roofing paper. I had them cut to factory sizes and they were legit as they come. But if you can find a scrap of heavy roofing black tar paper and there you go.

Hell, if I could remember where that roll of roofing paper I have is at in storage, I'd make you some and mail them to you. Folded up, they can ship via First Class Mail for about a buck.

Im about up for it. I cut pieces out of my old rubber floor and this is bein a headache. Id post a pic of the stupidity i ran into but it wont let me. Lets just say i have good reason behind hating anyone that takes a truckto powerline park in ohio. They coudnt drill out the rivets on the strap so they cut, then drilled a piece then drilled strap and bolted piece to strap.... just so they could go be 'country'.

I used a yard stick and a razor knife to cut that roofing felt paper. They came out nice and straight without any problems. They looked all as good as factory pieces, maybe even better because I think the stuff I used was a hair thicker and I think actually worked a bit better.

I used a couple pieces of old tie down strap that truck drivers use. Worked perfect.
