Apparently this was installed right after the original owner bought the truck. The a/c no longer works. What is original and what isnt? What will i have to do to get a/c working again?

That lower fan selector for the heater and defroster is original, but the rest of it is dealer/aftermarket air. How doesn't it work? Does it at least blow air? I don't see any AC lines or a compressor. Did someone delete those parts? Welcome to the forum from one Mississippian to another.

Okay, yeah. I wouldn't have been able to see that in a million years. If it's all there, maybe it won't be anything to get going.

Is that line that's cut going to the condenser in front of the radiator? If the system's open, you're gonna have to find a suitable replacement for that receiver drier and replace it, connect those lines back together, and probably convert it to R134a if it hasn't been already unless you have a source of R12. There is some flushing and vacuum pulling involved, too, but we'll get to that. Does the blower work on some/all speeds at least? Pardon any aloofness that I have. I know the Delco system pretty well, but this is different.

Yes those lines go in the top and bottom of the condenser. The blower is ran by a toggle switch the previous owner installed but it will work on all speeds. Where would i find a receiver dryer?

I searched Frigette air conditioning on eBay, and found a bunch of parts. I saw a reliever drier that looked like yours for thirteen dollars. I would replace the receiver drier, seal up the system (I'm assuming everything's there), and see if it'll hold a vacuum for a long time. Hours. I'm gonna assume the compressor didn't grenade, and it's okay. I would figure out what refrigerant it used when it worked. I'd look up pictures of R12 and R134a ports and see which ones yours are. Once everything's put together, it should be ready to be charged. I'd work on getting it out back together first. This was the cheaper way. I doubt you want to spend money for a new compressor and condenser if these work. Do you have anything else to report on the function of the A/C since you've owner it?

Well, you're gonna need that, too. That scares me a tad. If the compressor locked up, it could have thrown metal and clogged up the compressor. It may behoove of you to replace the condenser, too. Just to protect your investment. Just to let you know, you'd be going through this same ordeal with OEM air. I'm wondering if you can throw on a Delco compressor instead of trying to hunt for what it came with. Is the bracketry still there?

Which route will be easier at this point, factory or aftermarket? I really dont know much about these ac systems. Could you explain what parts are needed and how the system works. I just want to get a better understanding of how the system works. Thanks for the help!
