Before I drop the tranny (again), asking for some input. Just completed an engine swap in 82 Scottsdale. Bolted another SBC to the SM465. Replaced the complete clutch while at it. Went to fire the motor for the first time today and fluid leaked from the bell housing. My guess is input shaft seal, but I'm listening to thoughts. Second, what about damage to the clutch from the fluid leak? Thanks in advance for any and all assistance.

As much as it sucks probably the input shaft seal. Make sure when you pull it check for abnormal shaft play. Clutch should be free of oil.

Follow up - Input shaft seal. No play, guess the seal got shoved out of place during install.

Sucky but easy fix and good on not having shaft play.

Honestly, better the input seal on the transmission than the rear main on the other installed engine.
