Dash repairs advice needed ?

I need to replace the temperature gauge and the printed printed circuit in my 88. Would you replace all of the other gauges, Volts and oil pressure ? They work fine now ?

I have a cluster out of an 89 R30 your welcome to have it you just gotta come to Denver to get it Pa that is. Exit 286 on the pa turnpike.

Only replace what is broke


Also, do your best to be sure that it's them (the gauge and PC) that are bad before committing to the new parts. It's normally only one or the other that is at fault (I'm assuming that your coolant temp gauge is the issue at hand). Eliminate the sensor as well. And remember (in my experience anyway) the most common cause for a gauge indication problem is a wiring problem - in the part of the circuit that is external to the instrument cluster.

My dad always said "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" I'll take your advice. I replaced the sensor twice, so I'm pretty sure it's the gauge. You can drive for 5 minutes and the gauge doesn't move a single bit, then the needle jumps all over the place and then settles down for a few minutes, then it's back to doing the jumping thing again ! Boy I have put a hell of a lot of work in this truck. Came from West Texas, not a single spot of rust, but it had 117 hail-ball

This cluster is real nice and it's just gonna get chucked back in the truck when it gets scrapped. I'd rather see it get used or at least some parts of it get used.

I'm pretty sure of the PC. Considering all the heat that the truck was subject to. I had to completely replace the dash board. And it was the real thing, not a cover. A company Chynanne dashes Inc. Good quality and made in America. All of the sensors were made in Mexico. But . . .
