Does anyone have a template or measurement for where the stock placement of marker lights would be on an 1984?

I have a set of five OEM marker lights from Truck-Lite and want to put them on my '84 GMC K2500. I am going for a stock look so I want to make sure they are in the right place.

Any Help would be great.

Yep, I have an 86 with OEM marker lights. I'll go out later and get location dimensions.

See if you can understand these dimensions. I never realized the outer markers face outward at about a 30 degree angle from center:

This is fantastic, thanks so much. When you have time how far back are the screws from the windshield molding?

See images 2 & 3.

The center line of the mounting screws for the middle three lenses are 5" from the top edge of the rubber windshield gasket.

For the outer two lenses, the distance from the center line of the mounting screws to the the top edge of the rubber windshield gasket are:

4 3/4" inboard and 5 1/2" outboard

That 3/4" difference is what provides for the 30 outward degree angle.

This is better information than I ever could have hoped for. Thank you, hit me up if you're ever in the DC area and I owe you a cold one!

Nice, I am just outside of Rockville, MD - I leave this next week to drive my '84 out from Utah where it has been sitting since we moved here last fall. Should be an adventure in my old truck.

Hah - I was standing on the plow frame.

That is Edelbrock model 1223:

I love 'em. Like $35 @ pepboys. They look sharper than their cheap chrome dress-up stuff - and they last a wicked long time. Get a little scratch - just hit it with some trim black and it's like new.

I'm going to need this... DOT regs put my truck right on the line for needing the clearance lights.

Make sure when you drill your holes that you don't go too deep. You don't want holes through the inner skin.

Good point, what is the distance between the outer skin and the inner (ceiling)? I would guess about an inch - is that about right?

Reason I ask is;

You see those two outer markers - I have a plan in mind to wire them into the front directional/marker lighting circuit.

I usually resist making any changes to a stock set-up, but in this case I might make an exception.

Picture at night when you activate your directionals to indicate an intention to turn.

Not only will the parking light and side marker be blinking (and alternating), but up on the roof, the outer clearance light will also be flashing in sync with the lower lights.

Also, when the hazards are activated, the extended height will increase visibility.

Any thoughts from the modification crowd?

Cool or goofy? Is it even legal?

I ordered the truck-lite lights on Amazon ($11.00 each) but does anyone know if there is a wiring harness for sale anywhere. I can make one up but would rather hit the easy button on this one.

No leads on a pre-fab wiring harness but here is a good look at how it's is layed out:

Found a harness at LMC. Item 36-3770 for $15.
