Is it a law or something that all 1 tons must have these lights?

I know here in California if a vehicle is over 80" wide, vehicles are required to have clearance lamps. I think the only thing on my K30 SRW that I think triggers the requirement is the D60 is wider than the 10 bolts in the 1/2 and 3/4 tons.

If its SRW shouldn't it be same width as the 1/2 and 3/4 ton?

The front hubs on the d60 stick out considerably farther than the front axles on the 10 and 20 series trucks. If, that is what they measure from, it's possible. I know we've had the discussion about lights on the tailgate being triggered by vehicle width, but it my have more to do with local laws than anything. My D30 doesn't have clearance lights, but it is also ex-military.

The d60 didnt come in every 1 ton seems like those lights are on every 1 ton.

I dislike them and why I have a hard time finding cc trucks I want
Not a fan either I’m thinking by having those ginormous mirrors on the “1ton” it makes the lights nessesary. My CC had normal mirrors do to a door swap

Have seen them on SRW with regular mirrors, I dont like the look and dont want to have to deal with rust from them leaking.

I found on this 89 that the roof skin was different and had molded pockets and nutsert made into the outer layer of the roof and thick rubber seals to combat ingress of water. I always assumed the just ran screws into the skin lol

That’s how they were. My 79 has the holes for the screws but they are covered with body filler and the current ones are just screwed to the roof.

I took the stock set I have off an older truck and it’s just as you described so I’m going to be digging the filler out so I can put those big mothers up there! We call them chicken lights around these parts.

Now I just need the tailgate with the lights to complete the package.

Mine don't work and that's part of my winter to do list, I know mine is from a lack of wiring due to mouse ingestion.. :emotions122:
