have an old 350 that I’m going to start building so I can replace the 292 in my 74 pick up. Can anyone give me ideas on What kind of parts could be better to use or what set up I can use. I don’t plan to drag or anything like that but would like something more than stock. The 350 would be running with a th700 transmisión

That's gonna be a loooong list.

Is it a 2 or 4 bolt main?
What year/kind is the intake?
How much money have you got?
Willing to spend?

I gather your truck is 2WD.
Do you want a daily driver?

Since you're not going to drag or anything like that:
Do you want torque?
Do you want gas mileage?

Sacrifices must be made. You can't have it all.

Check what heads and pistons it has. Some sbc heads are not worth working with unless work is free.

Like @Snoots said, give us an idea on budget and overall expectations and use of the truck.

Do you want a mild lumpy cam, or for a simple all stock build?

Camel hump heads and 3/4 race cam.

All kidding aside, we'll need some more information to better assist you. Is this a daily driver? Weekend warrior? Plan to off road much?

Is the original 292? What’s gonna happen to it?

Well. The engine came off an old 1993. It’s not a daily driver but I do use it a lot. Mainly when i go on road tours with d local guys. Putting like 300 miles a week. Do not use it off road. The truck it’s originally built and sold in Mexico only. So I got rid of the factory differential and used the one from the 1993. Would like a different cam. I just don’t want to Build it stock.

If it was me , for a fun small block , I would bump up to a 383 , deck the block , get new vortec head's , run d-dish pistons at 0 deck , (9to1 comp. or so) with a .041 head gasket , (quench) , smallish roller cam , (if in budget) and then good intake , headers , etc...... and you would have a pump gas flyer.

Just for comparison, here's my 350 build going into my truck:
350 w/ 4.030" bores
Mild Flat Tappet Comp Cam (12-238-2)
Hyd. Flat Tappet Lifters
-3.5cc domed hypereutectic pistons (~9.5:1 CR)
Stock 887 heads (76cc, 1.94/1.5 valves)
Stock 1.5:1 rockers
Stock intake manifold
4bbl Quadrajet
Double timing chain
High volume, std pressure pump (think melling m155v)

Taking it with a grain of salt, Comp Cams Camquest rates the setup around 320 hp/400ft-lbs tq. To free up some hp, i'm going electric fans.

Planning on swapping to higher flowing manifold & bump up to 72cc heads for about 10-10.5:1 CR.
