Not sure if this is the correct section but...

I am wondering if the beds for the 73-87 are all the same except for the gas filler doors changing.
I'm looking for a shortbed and just want to make sure body lines will match up to my 1985 if I get an older one.

Thanks in advance!!

Yes, they're all the same 73-87 and even into 91 on the 1 ton Crew Cabs, with exception of the fuel filler doors. They all bolt on the same, lines are the same and all. IIRC 73-76 I think it is has gas caps, 77 or 78 up got fuel doors. There will be some experts here shortly to confirm or deny the caps or doors.

Fuel doors came about in '79. There were differences through the years with filler neck hardware and tailgate trunnion/latch hardware too.

But the body lines all match up.

I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of fuel doors, but my 74 has got gas caps.

Awesome! I thought I knew at least one thing about these trucks, I've only had ours about a month, but didn't want to buy one only to find out they were different.

THANKS EVERYBODY!!!!

If it's a single tank truck, the default single gas tanks swapped sides somewhere along the way too.
