And/or replace a few. "Making sure metal to metal is Clean".
Several years ago, had a 35' coupe, attempting to get a ground for a nos tail light (Several times), filed off some metal (several times) and nothing worked, with a big sigh, went to take a break, set the tail light on the leaf spring to rest and it lit up!, just two more file strokes on what already looked like bare metal and it finally worked...jus' sayin'.
