I'm looking into wheels in the near future and would like a wider tire on the front also. I'd like to do 20x9 front and rear or possibly 20x10 in the rear

you can run 275 on a 9....... depending on the tire. All tires are different. My trans am had 275's from the factory.

go online, there are all sorts of calculators out there for wheels/backspacing and offsets, and tires, the tire one will give you height, etc. just fill in the blanks, and it gives you all the info you need, I've been told you can run up to a 315 on the rear with no rubbing.

A 305 on a 20 inch x 10 is the widest you can run without clearance issues. Thats what I have and I might have a 1/4" combined clearance inner and outer. You could of course trim the inside lip of the fender, but its still close, esecially if you ever are off camber pulling into an inclined driveway or into a parking lot.

I have 20x8 up front with 295x45x20. I have ample clearance on oem control arms and bagged. Before the truck was bagged, same tires and still had clearance for the front tires. The static drop was 5" front and 9" back. I believe the back spacing is .75 in the front and zero in the back. I can confirm with the shop that I bought the wheels and tires from if need be.
