83' K1500 power plant build help needed.

I have been presented with an opportunity to buy a 97’ suburban with 350,000 miles on the engine. Needless to say it only runs on 6 cylinders but I think it has a 5.7 in it. The tranny is 7 yrs old since rebuilt. They say the truck always starts up and runs, runs slow but it runs. I have a chance to buy it for $500. My thought on the whole thing is it has an LS motor (correct me if I’m wrong), it has the tranny and all the wiring I would need to swap it into my 83’ k10. All I have to do is rebuild the motor and install it. Does that sound like a really good deal?

97 burban does not have the LS they didnt get them till 01/02 I think.

depending whats wrong with it might be a descent driver while doing a swap on your truck if you dont have one already. It will be almost the smae amount of work to swap that engine and tranny into your truck as it would an ls, same with a fuel injected 454. 350k on an engine chances are it needs a rebuild. fyi that engine block doesnt have a fuel pump mount on it so to use itin an older vehicle it has to have electric fuel pump.

I wonder if I could use the tranny. Because the truck i'm putting it in is a 4x4.
