has anyone installed an edelbrock performer 600 carb and performer intake on a small block with 700r4 xmission? i bought the TV cable adapter and installed ad adjusted according to GM spec. it seems as though the TV cable is loose. i havent test drove yet, but the xmission shifted way to early and slipped if matted before the TV adapter was installed. the TV cable was tighter before the adaptor was there. should it be tight at WOT? i'm thinking i need to get the eddy throttle/ TV cable mounting plate to get it placed right to adjust according to GM specs. anyone have any thoughts?

I have a 750 and intake on a 400sb with a 700r4. Oh and update... Wouldnt matter how I adjusted the cable slipping damage was already done probably due to poor cable adjustment by previous owner so sent it out for performance rebuild.

Be sure you have the Geometry correction for that Carb or you'll trash this new one too.

If you have a 700R4, any slack at all is BAD! That's because at very light throttle, the trans still needs increased pressure. I recently had a problem with a friend's car where there was too much slack. It turned out to be the TV link rod was getting hung up inside the trans end of the OE-type cable, causing the inner cable to not pull all the way out. It would have been a disaster had the car been driven that way. The throttle valve MUST start moving at the slightest hint of throttle movement.

I have no slack in the cable. It starts to pull the cable immediately when acceleration begins. My question is what would make it reset itself and pull itself out by itself in the picture after being set? It did that to me last night for some reason.

Make sure the locking tab comes all the way back and the adjuster is not stripped.

Is there some kind of other adjustment on the carb thst could be too tight causing the cable locking mechanism to keep stripping? Could the plunger on the tranny cause this? My gas peddle is really tight and not because of a heavy return spring or whatever its called.
