Finally settling and sticking to what I'm swapping into my truck. I'm planning on having everything done before 2018. So, I don't see very many fair priced 4L80s that often so I'm picking this one up this weekend for $450 after talking to the seller. I plan on purchasing a trans controller and all that to get it to work. I know I'll need a new torque converter and maybe a flywheel but, let me know what yall think and if there are any other trans controllers I can save some cash with. Will post more soon

I have heard you can make the 0411 ecm function as just a TCM, google it should be a lot cheaper than a TCM and you can use the ecm later if needed.

You can use the factory PCM to control the 4l80E, you don't need a converter, you do need the flat flex plate from a 6.0

Guessing just the transmission, 450 for a 5.3 and 4l80 would pretty cheap.

I did a little research on that, I believe I'd have to get the PCM flashed and calibrated, then I'll need something to tune it. It might end up costing just as much as a TCM.

I had my ECU reflashed to the transmission of my choice for 45.00, had it back in three days also.

Would I be able to use the stock converter? It's an earlier model 4L80, throughout the years there have been some changes for sure and I'm looking for a later year 5.3

Well does it work as a standalone controller? I plan on running the 5.3 carbed because I've already replaced almost everything relating to fuel in my truck and I have the Delphi TBI pumps in now.

You would still need to install couple of sensors for the trans control. Either repin plug for 5.3 ecm and have it flashed as a standalone or aftermarket route if you can find a good deal

The changes to 80e's are only the wiring harness and internal stuff all are interchangeable from 94 on.

No, because I didn't have it flashed that way. If you're insistent on doing it with a carb, and I'd discourage that, then what you need is a TCM from a 6.5 diesel truck.

But really, you've blown the budget all to pieces by running a carb.

Picked up the 4L80 and got the torque converter for $450
The lines on the tail of it are from the TH400(sold) that used to be in the truck

I've been pretty indecisive with all the things I could swap into the truck, I'm now considering ditching the 5.3 and just looking for a good 350 or another 454. I bought the trans first because I knew I was going to be using a 4l80 no matter what.
