400 trans acts like its in neutral

I have a 383 hooked up to a 400 and it seems like the pump went out on the trans after rebuild I only got 75 miles out of it.

The builder says that he thinks there is t enough clearance for the torque conv?... Behind the flex plate there is an external balancer. That's only and 1/8 inch thick. Anyone ever heard of not enough room for a torque converter. He say it burned out the pump. I smell BS.

When you put the tranny in you would have had to slide the converter forward a 1/4"-3/8" to the flexplate, if it was right up against the flexplate the converter wasn't engaged in the pump properly and it killed it.
