Thats why it read at 150, thats the temp after it returns from the cooler.
Yes. If that return fluid gets up to 190 to 200 it time to back off a little

A gauge anywhere is better than no gauge at all. If pan temp is 150, then that's what the transmission is picking up too which is good.

okay I got pretty much everything under raps but the exhaust .I wanna run header but I'm seeing the oil filter is off to the side one the 454.maybe a clearance issue??has anybody got a part number for the headers that will work??how about the o2 sensor location thanks all.i wound up getting the trans a t case w complete harness too

Just ditch the sideways filter mount and replace it with a regular 'ol SB/BB filter mount.
