HOW TO: front clip swap, 73-80 front clip on 80-87 cab/frame, square eye to round eye
Sorry for digging this up but i have a couple questions.. My '84 has the single square headlights currently. Would the existing wiring harness from that front end work with this front? I suppose i could go to the '79/80 front end and just reuse my current square LEDs if not. What hood hinges...- Darkrider

Write up: Gas Tank Relocation
Wound up digging up this thread as i was trying to sort out a fuel filler method for this same mod. Granted this is is more for my '84 as it is getting a new box swapped on. The '86 is getting a deck so fuel filler is much easier on it. I am thinking of doing something similar to what was done... -

So a GMT400 bench will work in the Squares with modified stock mounts...hmmm seems i may need to see if i can have a friend bring a decent GMT400 seat back when they go pyp shopping lol. It looks like it is a bit shorter on the bottom cushion if the Square tracks are 4" too long...which should... -

I seem to recall someone using F150 seats in a 67-72 CK before...I want to say it was either an early SD seat or a 92-95 F series. -

NEW window/lock harness vs OEM
More then likely plastic hard parts like the door panel and the dash pad will end up black while everything else will more then likely remain the light blue they are now.- Darkrider

Nice! I may be talking to you in the near future then about ordering one. The doors are in rough shape on my '84 and i pretty much decided a couple days ago that when i go scavenging for parts from the burbs at my buddies place i am going to grab the doors as well especially if they are power...- Darkrider

Original engine to the car. So i will pick up those HO heads then. I have a lead on a Performer RPM intake and a cam. Just gotta get the part number from the cam to get the specs. It may still end up in there. But i may just save it for another GM project as i know where a couple of '69 GMC...- Darkrider

I am assuming the 416s are what are on the engine now and the Truck HO heads would be the 601s? I would like a nice little street cruiser so you are on the right track in terms of Cam selection. I picked this car up in January after trading the Ranger i was driving for it. Pretty much all original and rough as hell lol. 305 under the hood with a 3 speed auto transmission. It remains to be seen what i end up doing engine wise since i do have a 400 with a rebuilt TH400 sitting in a donor...- Darkrider

Cutting the dash for later stereo mounting?
Since i have had most of the winter to contemplate this. I may seriously consider this route to keep the dash original. More then likely will go for the Long Beach model since it has Bluetooth and Ipod/Iphone control on it. Plus they offer stereo type dual voice coil speakers which will enable...- Darkrider

Lowering my 1982 GMC
Fair enough. I plan on opening up the rear diff in the summer anyway to deal with a pinion seal...might see what gearing it has then and take advantage of the situation to regear or at least add a locking diff.- Darkrider

Awesome! Thanks for the info. Looking at the western chassis 2.5/4" kit. I would like to keep using my stock wagon style wheels so springs it is for the front. The spacers i was referring to were the standoffs or whatever you want to call them that go between the bushing and frame. They are long...- Darkrider

Questions about 2.5/4" drop
Been awhile since i have been on here but i still have my square and just coming up with ideas for it. From what i have read if i use a 2.5 drop spindle i am at risk of contact with factory wheels and the lower control arm. headlight and grill upgrade options
Basically to swap to that front end you swap on the entire front clip and can reuse your original wiring harness. It has been done a few times on here. Thanks, This one had a grain bed on it as well at one stage in its life. The plan is to fit it with a simple flat deck but keep the lift system in place.- Darkrider
