    Fuel Selector valve Troubleshoot

Thanks for the advice. Found the problem. Not sure what the normal length is supposed to be for the rubber fuel lines at the tank, but mine were about 36" long. The supply line was long enough that it kinked when the tank was bolted on. It obviously worked fine while the tank was sitting...

    Fuel Selector valve Troubleshoot

So much for closing out the thread...... I let the truck idle for 20 minutes to make sure it was burning out of the production tank, which it did with no issue. Took it down the road and it stumbled and died. Switched to the Aux tank and it ran like normal again. Came home and let it idle on...

    Fuel Selector valve Troubleshoot

Just finished swapping out the fuel tank selector valve today and thought I'd pass on what I learned and close out the thread. All of the parts stores show AC Delco U7001 (or a knock-off) as the only 6-port fuel tank selector valve available. For me, the fuel return line hookups were too...

    Fuel Selector valve Troubleshoot

Also, do you remember the part number for the valve you used? I got the old one off. It was a pain in the rear. Went to put the new one on and the smaller holes aren't the same size as the pump I took off. I'm using AC Delco 7001, but the knock off pumps from Autozone have the same, wrong...

    Fuel Selector valve Troubleshoot

Say what now? You had a hole in the gas tank itself, or it was grounding out? I already removed the tank and replaced the sending unit.

    Fuel sending unit wiring question

Thanks. I couldn't tell if this had been altered or not. It works fine, so I'm going to leave it.

    Fuel Selector valve Troubleshoot

Yes. There wasn't really any debris, but the old fuel strainer sock was pretty rusty looking. The inside of the tank wasn't too rusty, in my uneducated opinion, so I just dumped the old gas out and put a new sock on with the new sender. Got everything hooked up, bolted the tank back on, and...

    Fuel Selector valve Troubleshoot

I let the truck run for a little bit just to make sure that valve isn't switching to the empty tank. It idled for just under 10 minutes, but DID starve out and quit. Not sure if that's normal timing, but I gave up on it much earlier yesterday.

    Fuel Selector valve Troubleshoot

That seemed logical to me, but without knowing exactly how that valve works internally, I wasn't 100% sure. I will go out and double check power supplies today. Short of taking it out, is there any way to troubleshoot the valve itself? I found the trouble shooting chart, and the last decision...

    Fuel Selector valve Troubleshoot

Guys, Please double check my thinking here. I've reviewed the service manual and done a search here. Thinking I might have a bad Pollack valve. Here's the background: My 86 K10 won't feed from the left tank, but works fine from the aux tank. It doesn't quit when you switch tanks, it just...

    Fuel sending unit wiring question

My 86 K10 only feeds from the right tank, so I dropped the left tank to drain it, replace the sending unit, and inspect it to begin trouble shooting. When I lowered the tank, this is what I've got for wiring. Having not done this before, I wasn't sure if it's supposed to be like this. In...

    Idle & vacuum questions

Great thread. Thanks Rich. Any idea what would cause an increase in smoke?

    Idle & vacuum questions

I did try and lean it out after hooking it up to manifold vacuum, but it was still putting off some smoke at idle and it smells like gas. It doesn't do that when it's on the ported side, so I thought it had something to do with the timing advance. Thanks for the heads up on the return spring...

    Idle & vacuum questions

Hi all, I've got two separate questions that I'm struggling to answer. I've got an 86 half ton with a 350 crate motor in it with a mild cam. I installed an Edelbrock 1406 with an electric choke about a year ago on it, but don't have much other info on the motor. First: When I swapped...

Thanks. I needed a sanity check before bypassing it.

    ac vacuum lines

I've got the heater box removed and repaired and getting ready to hook everything back up. Do you have any input for my last post? Also, I assume I should tap constant vacuum from the manifold and not use the ported vacuum plug in on the front of the carburetor? Thanks!

    ac vacuum lines

I've been tinkering with this on and off for the last couple of months and getting ready to put it back together. I looked back through the vacuum diagrams on this thread to make sure everything is getting hooked up correctly and I have one last question. I have the RPO C60 vacuum setup, but...

    ac vacuum lines

Well I guess that explains why a heater valve wasn't in the diagrams. Thanks again for the detail. I'll take another look at the blend door, but it's hooked up and seemed to be moving full travel when I had the evaporator out. I watched it close, but it sounds like it's not sealing correctly...

    ac vacuum lines

I guess that one had been removed. The slot was on the bottom. I replaced the AC in the truck a couple of weeks ago. It hadn't been hooked up in years. It's blowing cold off the evaporator coils, but the air out of the floor vent (none is making it to the dash vents) is getting mixed...

    ac vacuum lines

That's what's on the driver's side of the firewall, but I think it was originally for something else. I was going to run a vacuum line to it, but there is only one place to plug in on it (on top), and it looks like the fitting is broken off. There's nothing on my firewall between the blower...

    ac vacuum lines

Do you guys have a picture or location of the vacuum reservoir that controls the AC system? I've got a crate motor in my truck and some of the vacuum components were removed. The heater box does have some vacuum lines running to it from the AC controller in the cab, but that's it as best as I...
